Is it lame to learn to snowboard by yourself?

Silly question but I'm a 22 year old girl and tried snowboarding once when I was on vacation and LOVED it. But none of my friends back home will go with me and I really want to keep doing it to learn how. The mountain I can go to is only about 20min away from my home. I miss the snow!
